Quite possibly, those who view GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul's thirty year-long call for the same thing as somehow "quaint" or mildly "quixotic" should ponder the implications of this.
It would also be a good idea to actually read McTeer's admonishments to that effect. Some people just seem to have more faith in official pronouncements rather than their own conclusions based on evidence. For the rest of us, it's always nice to see hihgly placed officials confirm the correctness of what we have been talking about for so long. Read Rediscovering the Value of Honest Money.
On the other hand, it may behoove the reader well to read more about McTeer. He is apparently not afraid of glittering inconsistencies. He has a reputation for arguing that inflation is not really the problem in the economy - something that directly contradicts his position in hte research paper linked to above. DownsizeDC has begun an initiative to force Congress to act on Ron Paul's two Honest Money Bills: H.R. 2756, the Honest Money Act, and H.R. 4683, the Free Competition in Currency Act.
Naturally, his fellow representatives are doing everything they can to avoid even bringing these bills up in committee, and if they do come up, to let them fall under the table as quickly as possible.
We will just have to make clear to them that we no longer tolerate that kind of nonsense, and that we did not send them to Congress to sell us out. Without Honest Money, there can be no stable, prosperous economy. Without Honest Money, all "prosperity" we think we experience is nothing but a fleeting illusion that drives us further into indebtedness to our financial overlords.
